4th Joke - Video/Action for Goldenrod

Heyya everyone!

[Harley's looking chipper as usual, but also a bit proud. The source of this is revealed as she spins her gear around to reveal a newly-evolved Mightyena. He's currently being harassed by a small Pansear, who seems to be after something in the large dog's mouth.]

Stanny's all grown up now! We was all trainin' outside the city, and he was chewing on one of those birds that's everywhere, and then poof! He was all big an' strong like this. I got him a treat for doin' so well, but I think- oop, hang on-

[Stan raises a paw and swats at the Pansear, deftly pinning it to the ground. The last shot before the transmission cuts out is Harley running over to break up the fight.]

Dogfighting at its finest! My money's on that little monkey. I'm feeling pretty lucky today.

[A masked man is leaning back on a chair waiting for the transmission to return. He figures by the time it comes back on, he'll get to see just how that fight went.]

[Sorry Abyss, but once the feed clicks back on, Harley has the little monkey in question pretty well in-hand. With some rope. He's squirming in Harley's lap and chewing at his restraints, but for the moment contained.]

He's just a little overexcited. Still gotta learn that we fight OTHER people, not his brothers.

[Why you gotta ruin all the fun like that, Harl? Abyss clicks his tongue, not hiding his disappointment at all.]

You know that old saying, right? Boys will be boys. If they want to be idiots, just let 'em! They're only going to waste that energy on something else anyway.

Oh, I don't mind 'em roughhousin'.

[The occasional beating is just a sign of affection, after all.]

But tryin' to take Stanny's special treat like that is just RUDE. So li'l Robin's in timeout for a while.

Mhm. Mhm. Well, what can I say? Oh, that's right. One... two...

[Turning around behind him, as if facing an orchestra, he raises his arms up and yells:]

That's a shame, isn't it!? Ah, you're all good sports.

[The masked man turns back and faces the camera, giving his usual greasy smile]

His problem, Robin's I mean, was that he couldn't get away with it.

[You are an odd one, Abyss. And coming from Harley, that's saying something.]

No, I'm pretty sure you ain't supposed t'steal from a teammate unless it's REALLY important.

[She thinks for a moment.]

...Though I guess Robby learnin' to be sneaky couldn't hurt.

Wow, your Stanny grew up really big! [ Kushina's shocked at least. ] Did he get bigger just fighting birds?

Not JUST birds. There's a buncha weird stuff around here. He beat up LOTSA things t'get this big.

[She is very proud of her puppy and his ability to KO things.]

But yeah, one of those birdy things was what he was fightin' when it happened.

A lot of things? Did you just let him wreck everything to get strong?

[ Birds though - maybe that will make her weakling Joltik much stronger. ]

He's so big and intimidating though. How do you handle it?

[Classic Pokemon training - wreck ALL the things!]

He might look big an' scary, but really he's just a sweety.

[Said without a trace of irony.]

Really, y'just gotta take a firm hand with 'em. An' understand that when they chew on ya it's cause they like ya.

Chewing on birds?

Yeah! Those sparrow-pigeon thingies that're EVERYWHERE.

[She holds up her hands to indicate something roughly the size of a pidgey.]

He was chewin' on one during a fight and then poof!

[Dramatic flourish at the new and improved Stan.]

You mean those Pidgey? [he snickers lightly.] Right, well that's how all evolutions usually work.

All-? Y'mean Stanny'll do this again?

[Pokemon, how do they work?]

...I dunno if I can keep feedin' him if he gets any bigger.

It depends on the pokémon. Some only evolve once, but there are others that can evolve twice.

Oh, good.

[Very relieved. She's seen how big some Pokemon get, and while a dog the size of a building does have a certain appeal, but she's not sure she's ready for the responsibility.]

If he only does it once more, I should be able t'handle it. He might have t'start hunting the Pidgey-things for food, but he's good at that.

I doubt he'd grow more than that. But you never know with these things. [some of these things can get up to 7 feet!!!]

One time I saw this whale thing that was like, Godzilla or somethin'.

[And therein lies the source of her anxieties.]

...he looks pretty grown-up now, though.

[dare he even ask...]

Godzilla?

Oh, Godzilla's this big dino-thingy that attacked Tokyo a lot.

[In movies, but why bother mentioning pointless little details like that?]

When? [oh context...]

[Have a look at her srs-bsns thinking face for a moment, Conner.]

Or... the fifties?

[this....face.... yep]

Oh, an' one time it was New York, I think, but people don't like to talk about that one...

But... it would have been mentioned in history books if it were real. [aka the g-gnomes would have told him about it.]

_{[Oh hey! He remembers this chick. And Niña the Mightyena remembers the once-puny-Pooch, so she's watching over Tulio's shoulder.]}

Heh, congratulations. Told you those things bite though, didn't I?

Aw, they're just love-nips.

[Stan is a complete and utter sweety, and nothing will ever convince her otherwise.

Love-nips with big creepy teeth, if you ask me. I'd keep an eye out if I were you.

_{[His own Mightyena had demonstrated several times what she'd be willing to do if someone bothered her enough.]}

His teeth ain't that creepy. They're just really good at bitin' birds and stuff.

[Nothing will ever convince her that Stan is anything but a big adorable puppy.]

... yeah.

Yeah, they are.

_{[Niña's been going after his bird more than once if she was bored. His team? Big chaos all day erryday.]}

No, they're not! Hey Stanny, c'mere!

[The Mightyena grudgingly gets up and walks over. Harley takes his muzzle in one hand, lifting up his lips to reveal a mouthful of pointy teeth.]

See? Normal doggy teeth.

Whoa- hey, hey, I didn't mean that! I meant yeah, they like birds. You know, a little too much?

_{[Holds hands up and everything. ... beat.]}

You can probably put those teeth away.

[She drops the display of Stan's teeth and gives him an affectionate rub on the head. The Mightyena gives a grudging little woof and trots off somewhere not so full of Harley.]

He likes showin' how strong he is, I think. The birds're just what's there.

_{[He shrugs but similarly pets Niña with a little more affection he normally lets on.]}

Yeah, they're pretty common. Maybe they feel like they need to be kept in check or something.

I think he just likes th' taste, really.

Ooooor that, yeah.

Weird how they don't die though.
